Will my PayPal Here Card Reader work with iOS 9?

Apple has released an update to correct potential issues pairing with iOS 9.

To ensure you have the most current version of iOS on your iPhone or iPad, go to:
Settings > General > About. The version should be iOS 9.1 or above.

If you are on iOS 9.0.2 or an earlier version, download the latest version by going to:
Settings > General > Software Update

If you are still experiencing issues with Bluetooth pairing, please contact customer support.

  1. Connect a micro-USB cable to the port on the top of the reader.

  2. Attach the USB cable into an adaptor and plug it into a wall outlet for the fastest charge. You can also plug the USB cable into a computer.

At a battery level of 15% or lower, the reader won’t be able to process transactions.

  1. You’ll see a battery icon on the card reader’s screen.

  2. Or from the app, tap the New Sale screen, and then tap the credit card icon to see the reader’s percentage of battery.

How do I update my card reader’s software?

Most software updates are required to use the card reader. Plug the reader into a power source and connect via Wi-Fi before you begin an update. The card reader must have at least 30% battery in order to perform updates.

Plug the card reader into the audio jack of your mobile phone or tablet. When you’re logged in to the app, the card reader will automatically connect.

You can test the reader by swiping a credit card. From the main app menu, select Card Readers and then tap Practice Swiping.

  • Remove your case and re-insert the card reader into the headphone jack (check for dust or lint in the jack)

  • Securely attach the card reader to your mobile phone or tablet by sliding it down firmly until it locks into place

  • Check the magnetic stripe on the back of the card and make sure it isn’t damaged or scratched

  • Swipe the card in one smooth, continuous motion

  • Check your device’s volume limit. Go to Settings, select Music, and make sure Volume Limit is turned OFF

  • Close the app (force quit) and re-launch – if you’re still having trouble, contact Customer Service: {supportPhoneNumber}
